Adopt A Native Tree (or Shrub)

Port Townsend’s autumnal Arbor Day celebration is ’Adopt A Native Tree (or Shrub)’ where we adopt out young native plants to interested residents for as long as supplies last. Our summers are very dry while our winters are rainy and cool. Planting trees and shrubs in our community is best undertaken in autumn. Our plants are grown up from bare root stock provided by our local conservation district sales. Our goal is to increase the prevalence of native species in local gardens to help our resident and migratory birds and pollinators survive the effects of climate change on their food sources.

Join us for the first city run Arbor Day. Participate in a tree plating event planting 30 trees in Candy Cane Park. Meet representatives from our local conservation organizations and browse all things trees from participating vendors. Free trees while supplies last.

Dallas Arbor Day/Branch Out Dallas

Dallas Arbor Day is the 1st Saturday of November, and a part of this annual event 2500+ trees are given to homeowners to plant in their front, back, or side yards through the Branch Out Dallas Program. Registered homeowners pick up their tree on Dallas Arbor Day at 7 locations across the city, run by staff, volunteers, civic, corporate and no-profit partners. 2024 is Dallas’ 6th year for the annual tree giveaway.

Portland Arbor Day

Portland Arbor Day gathers communities to a local park. We learn about the trees, the wonderful groups who help care for our neighborhoods, welcome the autumn, and plant new trees in time for the rainy season. Join us for this fall celebration of our trees at Glenfair Park on October 12, 2024. Free crafts, bucket truck rides, and farm fresh vegetables will be given away. Together, we’ll plant 12 young trees to diversify and beautify the canopy of Glenfair Park.
