Arbor Day Foundation President Dan Lambe to Share US Best Practices and Programs in Meetings on Urban Forestry

Nebraska City, Neb. (Sept. 17, 2015) -- Arbor Day Foundation president Dan Lambe has been invited by the United States Forest Service, along with representatives from The Nature Conservancy to participate in meetings with local civic and governmental leaders in Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.

The primary purpose of the mission is to learn about ongoing efforts in Asian cities and municipalities and to share insights of U.S. efforts in urban forestry including: tools, management practices and approaches on climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience. The trip will also serve as goodwill in developing international partners for future Arbor Day Foundation programs.

"This scoping mission gives the Arbor Day Foundation an opportunity to participate first-hand in discussions that will further shape future programs on a global scale," said Matt Harris, Arbor Day Foundation chief executive. "This outreach is an excellent way to collaborate and show how trees in communities have a meaningful impact on citizens - from energy conservation to helping alleviate poverty."

The delegation will take place from September 18, 2015 through October 1, 2015 and includes meetings with local government leadership and regional entities such as 100 Resilient Cities, The Thailand Environmental Institute, The Rockefeller Foundation, The Urban Climate Change Resilient Trust Fund, The Asia Foundation, Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network and the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition International. In addition, the meetings will cover topics such as biodiversity conservation and storm water management practices.
